NANOBLADING INFO

THE HEALING PROCESS

Day 1 - Straight after the brows have been Nanobladed there are several things to take into account due to the “wound” being present. The hairstrokes are much darker, sharper, more precise & defined when fresh. The negative space between the hairstrokes will look very prominent due to the greater contrast (not the case once healed & settled).

The healed finish is typically around 30-60% lighter & softer, please keep this in mind as realistic expectations are necessary plus an understanding of brows looking more intense initially.

The pigment will look much warmer in tone on some skin tones, due to the hairstrokes having some blood sitting underneath the pigment. Lymphatic fluid may be present.

Typically fairer skin have more visible intensity & “wound factor” when fresh, with darker skin tones benefiting from less of a dramatic look when fresh. Please read my blog on high contrast & low contrast skin types to predict how your brows may look the first few days & once healed.

Day 2 - Brows will become a fair bit darker, this is due to oxidation of pigment & any blood underneath the pigment going from red to darker red as healing begins. Strokes may feel slightly raised & textured when washing the brows.

Days 3-7 - Brows become a little flaky as dry skin & excess pigment shed. No more than slight brow dandruff if aftercare is followed properly. As the excess flakes away, the underneath will look barely noticeable due to the contrast between the darker areas still healing, and the pigment now sitting underneath layers of “milk skin”.

Days 7-14 - Brows will appear very light, due to “milk skin” common in tattooing, layers of dry skin now healing over the pigment making it seem quite faded or “cloudy” looking. On low contrast skin, it can be barely visible. Please do not contact Maddy during this phase as it is a completely normal part of the healing process.

Days 14 - 21 – Pigment gradually comes back through, becoming clearer & more noticeable, but not as intense as when fresh. You will begin to see any areas that need to be retouched. Typically most clients will require a retouch on the first session as retention varies considerably depending on skin type. The body will attempt to break down semi permanent ink whilst healing. Retouching is based on how your skin has healed (retained ink) and what we want to achieve. It can be simply retouching existing healed ink or going darker, fuller, layering the same colour again for more prominence.

Brows are not considered complete without a retouch appointment (this must be factored in & is a normal part of cosmetic tattooing), whilst some clients are lucky enough to have skin that holds ink very well (strong retention) & not require a retouch, most do.

Retention is directly related to skin type/texture
Clients who have a “orange peel” type skin (large pores, thick skin, sensitive/bleed easily, uneven texture, sun damage, dehydrated yet excessive oilyness, doesn’t use spf or maintain skin health with products/treatments) will typically have a much poorer retention/healed results in comparison to a healthy skin type (small pore size, smooth texture, utilises spf and skin products/treatments to improve skin integrity)

The canvas on which we work on makes a huge difference to healed results, this needs to be kept in mind & understood. Retouching appointments are bookable at a lower charge of £95.

PRE-CARE

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

• Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Niacin and Vitamin E for 72 hours before your appointment.

• Avoid alcohol the night before your appointment and coffee or energy drinks on the day of your appointment.

• These can significantly increase bleeding during the procedure, negatively affecting pigment retention and healed results. In some cases, excessive bleeding may make it unsuitable to continue treatment and your appointment may need to be stopped and rescheduled.

• You must be off Accutane for a minimum of 3 months before treatment.

• If possible, avoid booking whilst on your menstrual cycle, as sensitivity can be increased during treatment.

• Do not stop prescribed medication without consulting your GP or healthcare provider.

SKIN & SKINCARE

• Avoid sunburn, excessive sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks before your appointment.

• If you arrive with sunburn in the treatment area, your appointment will need to be rescheduled and your booking forfeited.

• Stop using Retinol, Retin-A and other Vitamin A products on the forehead and brow area for 14 days before treatment.

• Avoid chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments, microdermabrasion and other intensive skin treatments affecting the forehead or brow area for 3–4 weeks before treatment.

• If you receive facial treatments during this period, inform your practitioner to avoid the forehead and brow area completely and treat the lower face only.

• Botox or filler in the forehead or temple area should be completed at least 2 weeks before treatment or postponed until after your procedure.

• Please inform me before your appointment if you have any irritation, cuts, blemishes, rashes, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, moles or other skin conditions in the treatment area.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

• Please allow plenty of extra travel time and plan your journey accordingly. London traffic and transport delays are common. If you arrive early, feel free to grab a soft drink nearby and relax before your appointment.

• Arriving more than 10 minutes late will result in your appointment being cancelled and your booking forfeited. This appointment time has been reserved exclusively for you and cannot be recovered once lost.

• Friends, partners, children and pets are not permitted at appointments.

IMPORTANT

Following these instructions gives your skin the best possible conditions for treatment, healing and long-term pigment retention.

AFTER CARE

CLEANSING
Your first cleanse should be 2–4 hours after treatment, then continue 2–3 times daily for 7 days.

Use Sanex Zero% or a very gentle, fragrance-free cleanser with no active ingredients. Create a light lather with a small amount of water, gently cleanse using clean fingertips, rinse thoroughly and pat completely dry with clean kitchen roll.

Cleansing helps prevent build-up, unnecessary scabbing and excessive flaking.

KEEP CLEAN & DRY
If lymph fluid appears on the day of treatment, gently blot with clean tissue. This helps stop it drying on the brows and forming crusting.

Outside of cleansing, keep water exposure to a minimum. Avoid dunking your face, direct shower water on the brows, long hot showers and excess steam.

Avoid excessive moisture including sweating, exercise, swimming, hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms.

SKINCARE & MAKEUP
For 7 days, avoid makeup directly on or around the brows.

Avoid active skincare on or around the brow area, including retinol, retinoids, vitamin C, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, AHAs, BHAs, exfoliants and acid-based products.

Active skincare should be used from the under-eye area down only during healing.

HEALING
Do not pick, scratch, rub or peel any flaking skin. Allow flakes to shed naturally, as picking can cause pigment loss and uneven healing.

Use a fresh pillowcase and avoid sleeping directly on your brows where possible.

Avoid eyebrow growth serums until the brows are fully healed.

Avoid facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and exfoliating treatments for 3 weeks.

IF THE BROWS FEEL DRY
Around Days 5–7, if the area feels tight, dry or itchy, apply a small amount of a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser or hydrating serum.

Choose something lightweight, simple and free from active ingredients. Milky, gel or serum textures are ideal. Avoid thick, oily products and blot away any excess.

AFTER DAY 7
Gradually resume your normal skincare routine.

Apply SPF daily to protect the pigment and prolong your results.

Active skincare applied directly over the brows can accelerate fading over time, so avoid applying strong active products directly onto the brow area whenever possible.
